Winter Wonderland

A blanket of white covers the roofs of houses

A streetlight shines bright with dignity thinking "I may be the only one, but I shine like the stars themselves"

A once green, grassy hill was snow a steep, snowy embankment

A tree was trembling as it tried to straighten it's spine

A rock, as hard and strong as it was felt as light as a feather

A snowflake drifts from the sky like the laughter that comes from children on Christmas day

It ran across my face and melts on my cheek

I gazed at the beautiful scene and let myself take a mental picture in my head and thought,

"What a Winter Wonderland!"

I glanced outside and spotted pine trees that were covered in snow. Everything was white! I was hoping for snow and my prayers were answered. So I had to write a poem about it!

This I Believe

This I Believe

I believe in making life the way you want it to be
Chase after your dreams

I believe in "Speak even if your voice shakes"
Be brave

I believe in perseverance
"Fall down seven times, get up eight"

I believe in my family
"We love you"

I believe in family moments
"The family that lives together, stays together!"

I believe that life is short so enjoy it
"Life is short so have fun!"

I believe in letting your conscience be your guide
Listen to your heart

I believe in courage
Get on that stage and show the world what your made of!

I believe in making life last
"Life is a cookie and once it is eaten, it will be gone forever"

I believe in myself!

Fifth Grade Fun

I wrote this poem with my friend AB when i was in Fifth Grade.

Fifth Grade Fun

Leaves on the trees blossom green
In Spring we've been busy as bees
We learnt something new day-by-day
Each honored an elders in an essay

And at the Audubon Society we learnt about watersheds
And micro-invertebrates, tiny bodies and heads
It was our second field trip of the year

Next came William Shakespeare
Everyone loves his plays
White flag for Comedy
Black for Tragedy
And red for History
Some of his plays are funny
Some of his plays are gory
But everyone loves them
With only a quill pen and ink
We tried to write his way
And now we think
It was much harder than using a pen today

Into the bioswale we did lay
Beautiful plants that are here to stay
Long after we leave
Is it probable?

We ask in math class
Figuring out the percents can be quite a task
Meanwhile, our second probe drafts are done
We're glad that this is the last one

Our entire fifth grade class had a used book fair
Everyone handled the books with great care

We cannot believe that the year's almost past
Time is something we just can't grasp
Something that if lost cannot be restored
At least we know we have never been bored!
